Uganda Hippos registered a commanding 6-1 victory against Burundi in the U-20 AFCON Zonal (CECAFA region) qualifiers game played on Wednesday at Sheikh Amri Obeid stadium.
Striker Ivan Bogere and Isma Mugulusi scored braces apiece while Najib Yiga and second half substitute Joseph Kizza Bukenya completed the riot in Arusha, Tanzania.
Burundi grabbed a late consolation through Kevin Icoyitungiye who capitalized on a defensive lapse in Uganda’s box.
Uganda Hippos would have scored more but Ivan Asaba, Yiga Najib and Raymond Onyai squandered their goal scoring opportunities.
Head coach Morley Byekwaso made three changes in the game when Raymond Onyai, Joseph Kizza Bukenya and Alpha Thierry Ssali replacing Richard Basangwa, Ivan Asaba and Najib Yiga respectively.
Uganda Hippos which drew goalless with South Sudan on Monday, now counts four points from two group B matches.
Uganda will now await for the final group B match on Friday when South Sudan takes on Burundi at the same venue before the top placed team directly qualifies for the Semi finals.
