Players Abroad: Luwagga On Target for Hapoel, Goalie Kigonya Scoops Accolade in Zambia

Many Ugandan players in the diaspora returned to action over the weekend at their respective professional clubs. ChimpReports compiles a detailed report of their weekend performances.

In Israel, Kizito William Luwagga was on target though his strike didn’t save his Hapoel Kfar Saba side from a 2-1 defeat to Hapoel Haifa.

Elsewhere, defender Timothy Awany played full time while Bayo Fahad came on as a second half substitute (73rd minute) as Ashdod FC drew 1-1 at Hapoel Hadera.

In Zambia, goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya was named the man of the match as Forest Rangers drew 1-1 with Green Bufaloes while Paul Musamali didn’t feature for Buildcon FC in the 1-0 loss to Prison Leopards.

Custodian Yasin Mugabi wasn’t in the match day squad as his Red Arrows Young Green Eagles 2-0 at home.

In the English League 2, Elvis Bwomono played full time as his Southend United side drew 1-1 with Mansfield while Jayden Onen was an unused substitute as Reading lost 3-1 to Brentford in the championship.

Striker Karl Mubiru Ikpeazu came off the bench and played only 14 minutes as his Wycombe Wanderers side drew 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.

In Portugal, Left back Alex Kakuba was an unused substitute as CD Cova Piedade lost 3-2 at home to Penafiel in the Segunda League while Bevis Mugabi played the entire match as Motherwell lost 3-1 at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.

In Denmark, Robert Kakeeto came on in the 42nd minute as his Aalborg FC side lost 3-0 to Aarhus while Moses Opondo played 79 minutes as Odense FC drew 1-1 with FC Copenhagen.

In South Africa, shot stopper Denis Onyango Masinde played full time as Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 with Golden Arrows while Moses Waiswa was left on the bench as Supersport United side overcame Baroka 3-1.

In the Egyptian Premier League, forward Derrick Nsibambi was an unused substitute as Emmanuel Okwi’s Al Ittihad Alexanderia drew 1-1 against Smouha SC. Okwi wasn’t included on matchday squad for Itihad Alexandria.
