Vastly experienced defender Jjuuko Murushid has reportedly opted out of the Uganda Cranes camp (Paradise Hotel- Kisaasi) to depart for South Africa ahead of his highly anticipated move to Maritzburg United.
Jjuuko who signed a six-month short contract with Express Football Club at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, was among the many players summoned on the national team preparing for the 2021 African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled to take place in Cameroon.
Jjuuko is expected to fly out of the country next week for South Africa to hold trials with the Premier Super League entity Maritzburg United before putting ink to paper.
In case the deal goes through, he will join goalkeepers Dennis Onyango Masinde (Mamelodi Sundowns), Ismail Watenga (Chippa United) and midfielder Moses Waiswa (Supersport United) as other Ugandan players in the Southern nation.
The Uganda Cranes squad is posed to leave for Cameroon on Monday 28th December ahead of their participation in the pre-CHAN mini tournament that kicks off in early January.
The four-nation tournament which will have Uganda, Zambia, Niger and hosts Cameroon, will serve as a pre-test ahead of the major events scheduled for 16th January to 7th February 2021.
