Robust Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya has completed his move to Tanzania Premier League giants Azam Football Club.
Kigonya joins the ice cream makers as a free agent on a two-year deal with an option for extension after running out of contract at Zambia Premier League club Forest Rangers.
Last season, he guided Forest Rangers to the second position in the national Zambia Super League before he was awarded with the goalkeeper of the season accolade for guiding the team to the CAF Champions League.
Besides Forest Rangers, Kigonya has previously played for Uganda Premier League entity Bright Stars and Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka Sports Club.
At Azam FC, he joins country-mate and Uganda Cranes right back Nicholas Wadada who was also crowned the club’s best defender for the 2019/2020 season.
