Masaza Cup: Muzanyi Grabs Brace as Bulemeezi Storm Semis

• Bulemeezi 3-1 Busujju

Muzanyi Akram starred with a brace as Masaza Cup defending champions Bulemeezi cruised to a 3-1 victory over a youthful Busujju oin the quarter-final at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Muzanyi’s two goals came in the second half (75′ and 79′) adding to Gabriel Elagu’s first half strike. Shafik Kakande pulled one back for Busujju in the 84th minute.

Simon Peter Mugerwa’s charges reach the quarter-finals as Butikkiro group leaders (8 points) following victories against Buluuli (2-1), Singo (4-0) before drawing against Butambala and second placed Mawogola.

Elsewhere, Busujju finished second (7 points) from Bulange group following victories against Buwekula and Buvuma and a 1-1 stalemate with Kyaggwe.

Busujju’s only defeat in the group stages came against table leaders Busiro (2-1).

After the victory, Bulemeezi advanced to the semifinals as the second team, joining Busiro which had earlier eliminated Mawogola (1-0) courtesy of Kuteesa Malida’s strike.

The semi-finals see the 2019 runners up Busiro play either Bugerere or Gomba while Buddu has a date with Bulemeezi on Thursday.
