Uganda Cranes left back Shafik Batambuze has officially joined Zambia Premier League outfit Kabwe Warriors Football Club, the club has confirmed.
The dreadlocked defender joins the Zambian side as a free agent having parted ways with Kenya Premier League giants Gor Mahia at the end of last season.
The former Singida United left back has since been training with UPL side Busoga United on his way to recovery following a successful knee surgery operation that came in the wake of a career-threatening injury.
Besides Singida United in Tanzania, Batambuze has played for Simba Sports Club, Muhoroni, Sports Club Villa, Western Stima, Gor Mahia, Sofapaka and Tusker Football Club.
At Kabwe Warriors, the roving left back signed a two-year deal with Kabwe Warriors to guarantee his stay until the climax of 2022/2023 season.
The five-time league winners are currently sitting 10th on the 18-team log with 15 points from 12 games and will play host to Kitwe United on Saturday, a game where Batambuze could be handed his debut.
He joins a list of countrymates trading their talent in the Zambia Premier League in Shafic Bakaki (Nkana Red Devils), Paul Musamali (Buildcon) and Yasin Mugabi (Red Arrows).
