Tanzania Premier League defending champions Simba Sports Club have officially unveiled Didier Gomes Da Rosa as their new head coach.
The Frenchman was unveiled by the club CEO Barbara Gonzalez moments after partying ways with Sudanese giants El Merreikh, the home of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola.
Gomez has previously coached Rayon Sports (Rwanda), Coton Sport Garoua (Cameroon), Algeria’s CS Constantine and JSM Skikda, Horoya (Guinea), Ethiopia Coffee and Ismaily SC in Egypt.
He jets in as a replacement for Belgian Sven Vandenbroeck who departed Simba for Moroccan giants FUS Rabat earlier this month.
His immediate task is guiding the club to the Simba Super Cup as the team prepares for the CAF Champions League group stages.
Simba SC is placed in Group A of the CAF Champions League alongside Al Ahly (Egypt), AS Vita Club (DR Congo) and El Merreikh (Sudan).
The club will also play against Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman and Congolese side TP Mazembe in the mini-tournament scheduled for 27th – 31st January before their continental engagement.
Simba Sports Club is the home for Uganda Cranes and former Vipers Sports Club, SC Villa and Tanta Sports Club midfielder Taddeo Lwanga.
