• KCCA FC 5-0 MYDA
Striker Charles Lwanga starred Uganda Premier League giants KCCA annihilated newbies MYDA at the MTN Omondi stadium on Saturday.
The in-form forward scored twice and grabbed an assist as the Kasassiro Boys registered their first victory in four games. Bright Anukani also bagged a brace with Moses Aliro netting the other.
KCCA broke the deadlock in just three minutes when dazzling right winger Moses Aliro answered Charles Lwanga’s asking cross from down the left flank.
Lwanga later capitalized on goalkeeper Andrew Ssekandi’s poorly punched ball to tap in the rebound but his celebration was cut short by the offside flag.
The former Sports Club Villa forward again found himself in another scoring attempt after being released by anchorman Anukani but his low driven shot went wide.
Strikers Norman Ojik and Ibra Nsimbe got clear cut chances to score for MYDA but KCCA captain and goalkeeper Charles Lukwago dealt with their attempts as the visitors trailed by two at halftime.
In the 53rd minute, Anukani stretched KCCA’s lead with a beauty. The skillful attacker met Lwanga’s cut back in the area to pounce the ball on the post before it crossed the line.
MYDA’s Amos Etoju was cautioned by female center referee Shamira Nabadda for foul play on Anukani before Isma Mafabi replaced Solomon Babyesiza.
KCCA’s goal poacher Brian Aheebwa later squandered two clear chances. He was set-up by Aliro in the area but fired his efforts wide before goalie Ssekandi denied kept him out in a keeper-to-beat challenge.
In the 83rd minute, Lwanga put the game beyond MYDA’s reach when he nodded home a Herbert Achai inswinging cross past goalkeeper hapless custodian Ssekandi.
With three minutes to time, Lwanga completed his brace and KCCA’s fourth off his long range scorcher launched from outside the 18-yard box
Youngster Anukani, acquired on loan from Proline, put the last nail in the coffin when he converted a penalty kick following a handball by MYDA’s defender inside the box.
