The Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) on Saturday held an elective congress at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo – Kampala that ushered in Moses Mwase as the new president.
Mwase who doubles as the Uganda Olympic committee (UOC) second vice-president gathered 28 votes beating Simon Peter Mugisha (14) who finished 2nd in the race.
Mwase has been at the helm of the Federation on an interim basis since replacing National Council of Sports chairman Dr. Donald Rukare since last year’s meeting held in March.
The position fell vacant last year after the Minister of State for Sports, Hamson Obua appointed Rukare as the new National Council of Sports (NCS) chairman, replacing John Bosco Onyik.
“I am glad to have been entrusted with the new mandate by the AGM to lead the federation for the next four years. My emphasis now is having our strategic plan revised so that we can have a new direction of the federation. We want swimming to be for all, have a new National coaches curriculum, be financially stable and having a National Aquatic centre to encourage development of Aquatic facilities across the country,” Mwase noted.

The Director Privatization Unit in the Ministry of Finance will be deputized by Annette T Mwebeiha (first vice-president) and Tony Kasujja (second vice-president) while Albert Wasswa is the new General Secretary.
