Police vs SC Villa
Kavumba Recreation Centre 4:30pm
Record champions SC Villa start their quest for the first league title in 12 years against Police football club at Kavumba recreation centre on Friday.
After massive recruitment in the transfer market, SC Villa are ready to start the season on an impressive note.
A new coach in Deo Sserwadda and a new backroom staff, the Jogoos are optimistic the new assembled squad will take to a good start against Police.
SC Villa have signed over ten players ahead of the new season with Benerd Muwanga, Joseph Nsubuga from Bright stars, Vitalis Tabu, Yassin Mugabi among others expected to be handed debuts against the cops.
The 16 time league winners entered camp on Wednesday in Kavumba in preparation for the league opener. They face Sam Timbe’s side who have proved a hard nut to crack for SC Villa in recent times with the Jogoos winning just two in the last eight league meetings.
Police have been silent in the transfer market but Timbe has proved over the years that he can offer results regardless of the squad strength. The cops have maintained majority of last season’s squad. Lanky forward Peter Ssenyojo and Ben Ocen are expected to lead the striking line.
Umar Kasumba who scored eight league goals for SC Villa will be facing his former masters. SC Villa won 1-0 in the last league meeting between the two sides.
