Defensive Lapse Cost Us, Says Odoch

Jinja Municipal Hippos coach James Odoch admits that general defensive lapse cost the team at least a point in their opening fixture against KCCA FC on Friday at Lugogo.

Last season League MVP Joseph Ochaya scored on the 20th minute and assisted the Sserunkuma’s winner in the 69th. Both goals generated from the left back who raced down from his left back position to JMC danger zone in both occasions.

“They (KCCA FC) were generally a good team and I believe they had a lot of preparation in the preseason,” Odoch Said.

“However, we should have picked at least a point but defensive lapse cost us the two goals. We didn’t man the right wing like planned and conceded from there,” he adds.

Former Saints player Vianne Sekajjugo consoled the Jinja lords with a stunning hour mark debut strike that found Benjamin Ochan flat footed and off his line helplessly falling in the net.

However, Odoch still believes his charges didn’t do as expected in attack failing to make use of the chances created.

“Our striking line didn’t do as per our plans and Rajab’s late injury affected the comeback strategy even though I have to commend KCCA’s defensive discipline. They played well.”

JMC resume duty on Tuesday with first home game against Kirinya at Kakindu.

Odoch also hinted on making some changes in the team on Tuesday.
