Crested Cranes sharp shooter Sandra Nabweeteme has expressed her desire to fly back to the country for the upcoming Cecafa women cup.
Sandra left the country barely a fortnight back headed to the United States of America to join Southwestern Oklahoma State University both to further her studies and also play for the elites team.
“I have settled in very well and find it easy to fit with everyone around,” Sandra said. “Am training hard to be in a really good shape. I hope to represent the country soon.”
The former Kawempe superstar last featured in the national colours last month in a 4-0 loss to Kenya in Kisumu.
It remains tricky to know whether the national will summon her or whether she will be released from her new home in time for the regional tourney which isn’t recognized internationally.
“I have no problem serving my nation in case am called up for duty. My coach has been supportive here and I know he will be happy to see me on the national team,” she added.
The university side will launch their season on September 1st at home against university of Central Missouri in the University women football league.
The maiden edition of the CECAFA championships will commence on September 9th and will last two weeks.
Uganda will host the maiden edition with a dozen countries confirming participation.
