A five day FIFA MA youth refereeing course climaxed successfully on Monday at FUFA technical center in Njeru with participants awarded certificates of participation from the world football governing body.
Chairman of the FUFA referees committee Mr. Chris Kalibala represented the FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo in the closing ceremony and expressed hope that the knowledge imparted in the young whistlemen will be useful to the country’s game in the near future and beyond.
“This will help Uganda’s referees mature faster and reach their goal of supervising matches at the highest level possible,” said Kalibala.
“They are the future of our game in Uganda and we want them to start with our junior football leagues at respective levels.”
The course that started on Thursday 25th saw the 31 teenagers receive both theoretical and practical training from FIFA Referees’ Instructor Sam Egesa and assisted by (FIFA referee) Ali Tomusange.
On his part, FIFA instructor Sam Egesa thanked the participants for the maximum cooperation and enthusiasm urging them to start training and applying their skills in the junior leagues around their regions.
“This is the top most course for youthful referees. The same instructions and guidelines taught to referees officiating in the FIFA World Cup or CAF African Cup of Nations were taught to you the 31 Committed Uganda youth referees,” Egesa told the participants.
