
The Chief of Defence Forces, General Edward Katumba Wamala has challenged the Uganda Cranes to go out and make the country proud when they face Comoros in the final group D qualifier on Sunday August 4 at Namboole.
Gen. Wamala delivered his message as the chief guest on Thursday evening at a dinner party organized for the Cranes by the national team sponsors at Serene Suites, Mutundwe.
“We thank you for efforts to reach thus far and encourage you to go and attack the opponent without any fear,” Katumba said.
“Its No retreat, No Surrender. Uganda Cranes you can make it to AFCON finals by beating Comoros on Sunday. And i wish you all the best and please as Uganda Cranes players display the best energies let’s support them,” the five star general added.
The party was also attended by ex internationals who featured in the Cranes team that last played at the continental finals in 1978. The guests also celebrated Coach Milutin Sredojevic’s 43rd birthday.
$10,000 bonus
FUFA boss Eng. Moses Magogo revealed that every member of the Cranes team will get USD 10,000 each as bonus if they overcome Comoros and qualify for the Gabon finals.
“You have been gallantly excellent throughout the campaign. Now, we are remaining with only a match. Let us use the teamwork and commitment to ensure qualification,” Magogo said adding that; “We have settled all the outstanding arrears throughout this campaign and an additional $ 10,000 has been promised to each of the players and members of the technical team if we qualify to Gabon 2017.”
The team will have last training on Saturday at the Match venue Namboole stadium.
