Arua, Uganda:
Domestic premier League’s official broadcasting sponsors Azam Pay TV will not be airing the highly hyped match day four clash between Onduparaka FC and league defending champions KCCA FC, ChimpSport can exclusively reveal.
The match number 25 in the 2015/17 fixture had initially been lined up for coverage according to the pay TV and UPL communication but our sources close to the company revealed otherwise.
“We expected the team to have travelled by yesterday (Thursday) at noon but there were issues to be sorted which delayed the trip,” she revealed.
“I saw the OB van and the crew bus at their parking area a sign that they didn’t travel. The main issue could be that the head office in Tanzania did not approve the requisitioned monies. I am not sure if they will travel today,” she added.
It is also rumored that the crew would need close to six million shillings, three times the amount spent on covering other parts of the country like Jinja and Bombo which are furthest.
ChimpSport’s efforts to reach the Azam TV country coordinator were futile as our calls went unanswered throughout. We reached the Uganda Premier league CEO Mr. Bernard Bainamani but said he was off duty and directed to the acting CEO Mr. Paul Kabaikaramu, also doubling as the league manager.
“We have not received any communication and therefore cannot issue an official statement. Under normal protocol we draft fixtures and share with Azam who in turn pick the TV games to air. However, I will get to them for their response or any clarification,” Paul told ChimpSport from Kampala.
Verdict.
Since the game starts at exactly 4pm, it’s almost impossible for the crew to reach Arua town on time considering the journey takes over seven hours.
