Uganda 1-4 Ethiopia
Uganda crested cranes settled for fourth spot after succumbing to Ethiopia in the third place playoff final on Tuesday at Njeru technical centre.
The Ethiopian came back from a goal down to win 4-1 and finish the third team at the 2016 Women’s CECAFA championship.
Hasifa Nassuna gave the hosts an early lead after settling to a mid long range clearance to lobe the ball past onrushing Ethiopia’s goalkeeper Martha Bekele who had moved off her line.
The Ethiopians responded quickly with Erhime Zeregaw slotting home 12 minutes later after a poor clearance from goalkeeper Fatuma Matovu.
Crested cranes were forced to make an early substitution 20 minutes into the game when combative midfielder Tracy Akiror was stretched off and replaced by Shakira Nalwogga.
The visitors then took the lead at the stoke of halftime wlth Zerergaw netting her second of the day to give Ethiopia an halftime lead.
The Lucky remained dominant dominant even after recess and Zerergaw completed her hat trick in the 69th minute finishing into an empty net after the hosts lost possession.
Losa Abera completed the rout with 10 minutes to time also firing into an empty net to take her goal tally to five the entire campaign.
