Express head coach, Alex Gitta has  decried the poor standard of the Ugandan referees which he said cost his team as they lost to Jinja based BUL FC at Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening in the Uganda Premier League.

The Red Eagles were tipped one nil, thanks to a Milton Kaliisa strike in the 34th minute and ensured Red Eagles were condemned to their first defeat of the 2016/2017 Uganda Premier League.

However according to Gita, the referees were below par Wankulukuku making a number of mistakes that cost his team on Tuesday evening .

“It seems when the league went into recess, the referee also rested and never trained. I cannot tell why they could not see clear penalties and handballs for us leading to our loss,” he said.

Gita said there is need for the match officials to improve their standards while officiating league matches.

Strikers

The Express tactician also blamed his strikers for failure to convert a number of clear cut chances created into the BUL goal, which cost the home side.

Gita said the team prior to the game had created over 18 chances and converted 6 of these but noted he could not believe the boys failed to deliver  against Jinja based BUL FC.

“We need to address the issue in the next 2 games and see how we can perfect finishing.”

Express FC will visit Kitende based Vipers SC at Nakivubo  before going to Philip Omondi Stadium at Lugogo  to play with the  league champions  KCCA FC in their next 2 games.
