As Ugandans celebrate the National football team, the Uganda Cranes upon making it to AFCON 2017, the National Prayer Breakfast Committee yesterday appreciated the First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni for steering the team to victory.
This was during the 18th National Prayer Breakfast at Hotel Africana, held under the theme; “We shall know them by their fruits… Mathew 7:15-20.”
The Cranes last month beat Comoros to qualify for the AFCON 2017 in Gabon, for the first time since 1978, and the Committee members believe the First Lady played an important role.
To that effect, the first lady was presented with a foot ball by Mitoma district woman MP Jovah Kamateka and Arua Woman MP, Mourine Osuru on behalf of the committee as an expression of gratitude for “breaking” a curse that had taken the country more than 35 years to surface on the international football scene.
“We appreciate you, Mama Janet; we believe God sent you to the Ministry partly so that the Cranes could make it this time,” said Kamateka who doubles as the vice chairperson of the committee.
In response, the First Lady noted, “We appreciate the Cranes and this is a symbol for celebrating the Cranes, We pledge that we shall continue praying for you.”
