
Nkumba university have become the second team to retain the university Beach soccer competition after emerging champions of the 2016 edition that took place at the Lido beach resort in Entebbe.
Nkumba defeated former two time champions Makererere University Business School 6-5 in a closely contested finals on Sunday.
The champions had outsmarted Muteesa 1 Royal University 9-5 in the quarters and then 8-5 victory over St. Lawrence in the semi finals.
MUBS had cruised to the silver medal with wins over YMCA (10-7) and Bishop Stuart University (5-1). The Nakawa outfit won the 2013 and 2014 editions.
Thirteen universities took part in the two day event. They include;Nkumba University, MUBS, St. Lawrence University, Bishop Stuart University, Mbarara, KIU, Cavendish University, Busitema University, International University of East Africa, Kyambogo University, Mutesa 1 Royal University, Busoga University, Multitech Business School and YMCA Comprehensive University.
