SC Villa 2-1 The Saints
Acting head coach Shafik Bisaso got to a perfect start after nicking a hard fought win over the Saints at Mandela national stadium, Namboole on Tuesday.
A goal in either half from on form striker Alex Kitata and midfielder Godfrey Lwesibawa ensured the Jogoos attained maximum points despite the Saints pulling one back through George Senkaaba.
Kitata gave SC Villa a deserved lead 17 minutes after kickoff with powerful effort off his right foot. Kitata controlled a pass from Lwesibawa inside the Saint’s penalty area before slotting home past goalkeeper Joseph Ssebuliba.
After restart, Lwesibawa who has been in sublime form since the start of the season got onto the score sheet in the 53rd minute with a strike just outside the area.
Lwesibawa got the ball on the left flank and he quickly hit it with effort to go past the visitors goalkeeper who had moved off his line.
However, Moses Basena’s charges continued to trouble the hosts and they found the back of the net through second half substitute George Senkaaba with six minutes to time.
The result means SC Villa move from fourth to second position on 15 points, four behind league leaders KCCA who drew against Kirinya Jinja SS but the Jogoos have a game in hand.
On the other hand, the Saints dropped one slot back to eighth position with 11 points.
