About seven games were played over the weekend out of the eight that were lined up to grace match day one of the 2016-17 Fufa junior league.
The game between Vipers JT and URA JT meant to be played at Kitende did not go on as scheduled after the former requested the organizers to postpone their game.
“Vipers requested their game against URA JT to be pushed ahead. They had only thirteen eligible players and wanted to sort out the issue before they start their games,” Fufa Youth Development Officer Mr. Bashir Mutyaba told ChimpSport.
The federation introduced scientific method of determining the players’ age unlike the previous season when the birth certificates were used. This time all players had to go to Mulago hospital to undergo an MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) and only those who passed qualified to get license.
“They brought their players for the (MRI) test on Tuesday and hopefully they will be playing on match day two which is on Sunday (16th),” he added.
ChimpSport also found out that Express JT and Onduparaka JT both fielded thirteen and twelve players in their respective away duties to JMC Hippos JT and KCCA soccer academy. Express lost 5-2 while Onduparaka were thumped 7-0.
The next fixtures return on Sunday 16th with all the teams in action.
