Express coach Wasswa Bossa has bemoaned the defensive woes that the team showed in the 3-3 draw against Police in Kavumba on Friday.
Bossa said their defense looked lackluster, conceding simple and cheap goals that would be avoided.
” It hurts to see that we scored three goals today but we failed to get maximum points. I think we were poor especially in defence allowing them (Police) to score at ease,” said Bossa.
” We got an early lead and kept pushing them but then failed to keep discipline in defence. Even when we went 3-2 up,we failed to keep shape at the back,” he added.
Bossa also believes the red card given to defender Musa Mukasa in the 82nd minute was also a turning point.
” It was a poor decision for him(Mukasa) to retaliate. In one way or another, that also denied us maximum points because when he went off, Police got more space to attack and they punished us,” Bossa explained.
However,the red eagles coach is confident and hopeful,the mistakes will be ironed out.
“We need to bounce back very soon, so we shall go back and rectify the mistakes we made today,” Bossa said.
Allan Kyambadde gave Express the lead in the 5th minute before Osman Mutumba’s well curled strike leveled matters with two minutes to halftime.
Rahmat Ssenfuka put the hosts ahead in the 49th minute with a stunner but second half substitute Sserunkuma Simon made it 2-2 two minutes later.
Kyambadde got his second of the day and Express’ third, five minutes after the hour mark heading home Sserunkuma’s cross.
It was veteran striker, Hood Kaweesa who salvaged a point for Police scoring the equaliser in the 88th minute.
The result meant Express moved one place up to sixth on 13 points while Police remained second from the bottom with seven points.
