Kampala City council Authority FC were yesterday crowned the winners of the inaugural edition of the StarTimes cup after defeating arch-rivals Sc Villa by 1-0 lowly attended game played at the war memorial stadium in Nakivuubo.
StarTimes international Brand ambassador Nwanko Kanu was the chief guest in the event. The former Arsenal and Nigerian star was expected to take part in the game but was not able to play.
Both KCCA FC and SC Villa signed sponsorship with the international pay TV company.
Kanu’s visit
StarTime signed a deal to air the the fast emerging Chinese premier and the partnership with Kanu will see players from both Ugandan clubs benefit by sending players to play professional football in China as explained by marketing manager Aldrine Nsubuga.

“Kanu and StarTimes will work with these two clubs to promote their best footballers in the Chinese league. Both club and players will make very good money. It is the extra benefit that the 2 clubs will get from being sponsored by StarTimes. Marketing their players in the Chinese league with Kanu as the conduit and ambassador,” Aldrine told Chimp Sport.

The former Nigerian international will on Thursday 31st visit the Mulago heart institute to do charity and donate to the institute since he is well known for his heart disease which almost caused his death in his playing days. He has a heart hospital (charity organisation) in Nigeria.
Later he will take time to visit Kawempe/Mulago slum – playing fields where kids play football and also play with them. The message is all the great footballers in Africa and South America were picked from such areas and played football on hard soil….muddy pitches. The kids can be like him.
