
Uganda Cranes are assured of Ushs 1.57 billion for qualifying to the 2017 Africa Cup of nation’s finals which will be held in Gabon from January 14 to February 5th in Gabon.
This comes after Caf revealed the revenue allocations increment to various continental competition as agreed at the body’s executive committee held over a month ago in Cairo.
In the earlier plan, each team that featured in the African cup were entitled to atleast USD 400,000 (Ushs 1.32 Bn) in case one finishes last in the group stages.
Teams that finish third bow out with a total of USD 575, 000 (Ushs 1.9 Bn), an increase of 15% up from half million.
Knock outs Ultimate Champions in the 2017 and 2019 editions will fly home with a cool four million dollars (approximately Ushs 13.2 Bn) about 167% up from the previous prize.
The USD 1.5M is now cash prize to console the losing finalists. The losing finalists bag half of the champions prize.
CHAN 2018 & 2020 Winners of the 2018 and 2020 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) will celebrate with about Ushs 4.125 Bn and the runners up get Ushs 2.3 Bn.
In Overall, there has been 67.69 percentage increase in the revenue allocated to the CHAN tournament from USD 3.25 M to USD 5.45 M.
Both finals are sponsored by multinational oil and gas company, Total thus the tournaments have been rebranded “Total Africa Cup of nations” and “Total Africa Nations Championship”
