Newly promoted premier league side Kirinya Jinja SS FC team will shift their base from the school playground to the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in the outskirts of Jinja town.

The stadium currently hosts another topflight side Sadolin Paints FC.

While speaking to ChimpSport, club public relations officer, Paul Kulumba revealed the move was partly influenced by FUFA’s advice against housing games at the school premises.

“We wanted much to play at school and all the plans for putting the perimeter fence and working about the stadium  were almost done before we even concluded the big league,” Kulumba revealed.

He further noted, “However when we presented our final plans to FUFA, they advised us against the idea considering the fact football has wild/excited fans who can distort normalcy.”

The club director, Madam Diana Nyago, though reluctant to the idea consented thus the shift.

Several friendly matches are in the pipeline as per the PRO to help the clubs acclimatize to the stadium ahead of the league kick off expected in August.

“We want to get used to it and we will play more friendlies as we want so that our boys get used to it.”

Kirinya Jinja SS claimed the Fufa big league crown following their magnificent 2-0 display over West Nile side Onduparaka FC in the finals.

Both teams qualified directly after topping the Rwenzori and Elgon groups.

Proline FC is the third team climbing the ladder after emerging victors in the playoffs.

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has ruled against Vipers SC protest that claimed Onduparaka captain Muhammad Shaban was their player.

According to the protest application files by Vipers CEO Mr. Peter Lwanga, the Kitende side had signed the teenager for five years and was part of their academy and junior team.

However in their ruling, the federation nullified the contract with accordance to the provided laws governing a minor (below 18 years) and is eligible to play for Onduparaka in the Uganda cup finals on Saturday.

FUFA’s Full Statement.

FUFA has received the Vipers’ protest over Muhammad Shaban and wish in accordance with FUFA Regulations on status and transfer of players, clarify as follows;

The “employment contract” as signed on 11th June 2015 and submitted for the first time to FUFA along with your protest contravenes the above regulations as highlighted below

1. Bearing the player’s birth date and the date of signing of the said “employment contract” 11th June 2015, the player was a minor as defined by the above regulations Article 2(21) Minor: A player who has not yet reached the age of 18. This renders the said “employment contract” null and void.

2. Article 10 of the same regulations stipulates that application for a professional player must be submitted together with a copy of a contract. FUFA did not receive any contract for the above player (either a youth agreement for minors) at the time of registration of the same player in your (U-17) side.

The FUFA Secretariat records show that Muhammad Shaban was registered with Onduparaka FC in Fourth division league of Arua District Football Association in 2013/14 season at age of 15 then. When the club was promoted, the same player featured in the 2014/15 West Nile Regional League and 2015/16 2nd division/FUFA Big League in which Onduparaka FC competed and consequently moved up the ranks to the 1st division/Uganda Premier League.

The status and eligibility of the player can therefore be confirmed under Onduparaka FC and it is at their discretion to use the player in any FUFA organized competition including the 2015/16 Uganda Cup final on 18th June 2016.

Regional football rivalry between Uganda and Kenya is set to take a new twist after the two federations agreed on an international friendly for the women’s teams.

The friendly has been scheduled for Sunday 3rd July at the Moi international stadium in Kisumu, Kenya.

Women football in the country has been dormant since 2013 when the Under 20s crushed South Sudan 13-0 in a Fifa world cup qualifier. They later withdrew from further participation after failing to raise funds to travel to Ghana.

Crested Cranes senior team last featured in 2012 crushing 5-3 to Dr. Congo.

“The friendly game will be good for players’ motivation. After a tireless period of hard work in the FUFA Women Elite League, they will feel rewarded for their efforts,” Crested Cranes Head coach Majidah Nantanda said.

Totally different script for the Kenyans who are using this match as part of the preparations for this year’s African Women Cup of nations to be held in Cameroon between November 19th to December 3rd.

The Kenyans eliminated Algeria in the last qualifiers 3-3 thanks to the away goals rule with a one all at home and 2-2 away.

On Wednesday 15th June, Vipers SC filed a petition questioning the legality of Onduparaka skipper Muhammad Shabaan playing for the Arua side in the Uganda Cup finals.

Without delay, Fufa quoted sections of the Regulations and transfer of players to declare the teenage sensation a property of the West Nile side. The decision was received with both magnanimous applause and foul cry from the respective camps.

“I was happy with the news, my heart’s prayer was answered- to captain my team in a grand finale,” Shaban told ChimpSport.

The teenage sensation has scored seven of the ten goals for Onduparaka and has had a hand in the two other two.

“My business is to make the team win no matter if I scored or not. If I don’t get on the score sheet at least must endeavor to support someone else to score because at the end a win is credited to the team,” he added.

Among the teams that have fallen on Shaban’s path include Masavu, Busia, Soana and Entebbe where he struck thrice on both legs.

shabaan was also named the most valuable player in the Fufa Big League for his achievements and steering his team to the topflight on maiden attempt.

“We have been to many finals, used to the pressure and tomorrow ain’t different. The fans have supported us and we want to do it for West Nile, Northern and Eastern Uganda.”

The finals will be played at Nakivubo stadium on Saturday from 4pm.

Uganda Cranes will play the Harambee stars of Kenya in a buildup match ahead of the Saturday 3rd September ‘do or die’ 2017 Afcon group D qualifier against Comoros, Fufa has confirmed.

With ten points in the bag, the Cranes need an outright win against the islanders for a chance to book a berth in the January finals to be hosted in Gabon either as the best team or mathematically in one of the two available spots reserved for the best two ranked runners up.

The friendly match has been scheduled for Tuesday 30th August at the Mandela national stadium Namboole, just three days to the D-day.

Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has welcomed the preparatory game terming it good for general self-check.

“I am very happy that we have secured an international friendly match against a very good team. It will serve us a general check of players from a whole team shape before the match against Comoros,” coach Micho told the federation media.

2011 Memories.

The last time Uganda faced Kenya in a Fifa recognized match, it ended sour for the hosts who were held to a disheartening barren draw thereby crashing out of the Afcon 2012 qualifiers.

Synonymous to the current campaign, Cranes needed only a win to go to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, the two co-hosts but stagnated on eleven points, one behind eventual group winners Angola who picked 2-0 in Bissau.

Cranes headed to the fixture with ten points akin to current situation.

Among the players who featured in that game and are still active in the current campaign include keeper Dennis Onyango, Mawejje, Umony (injured), Massa, Serumaga (on and off), Ssentongo, Hassan Waswa and Moses Oloya..

The last time a team claimed their first ever Uganda cup title was in 2008 now defunct Jinja side Victors FC under the leadership of coach Sula Kato beat Kinyara FC 1-0 on Wednesday 14th May 2008 at the Nakivubo stadium courtesy of Julius Ongwedo’s goal.

By then Eng. Moses Magogo was the Fufa competitions secretary now the chief in command but the venue unchanged.

Two teams are up in contention for their maiden cup; Vipers and Onduparaka FC.

The Buikwe side have lost two finals to URA FC and SC Victoria University in 2012 and 2013 both to coach Alex Isabirye.

Vipers Coach Nsiimbe won the cup with Victors FC in 2010 with (now Onduparaka coach) Allan Kabonge in his playing ranks. Erisa Sekisambu has struck six times for the deposed league champions.

Road to Nakivubo.

The Kitende sponsored boys propelled to the finals despite losing 1-0 in the return leg in Buikwe where they headed with a 2-0 advantage, goals from Erisa Sekisambu and Alfred Leku. The latter turned down a chance to play for the caterpillars early in the season.

Before that the two time league winners had thrashed Bukedea (2-1), Kitara (4-1) and Hope Doves (2-0) all away.

“We respect them because they are not in the finals by mistake but we have all it takes to come out victors that day,” Edward Golola, Vipers assistant coach said.

Vipers have lost two finals to URA FC and SC Victoria University in 2012 and 2013

Vipers have lost two finals to URA FC and SC Victoria University in 2012 and 2013

The west Nile side launched a successful coup against the defending champions SC Villa winning 5-4 after post match penalties, the only game where the team failed to score in normal time. In fact keeper Nafion has conceded only one goal by Masavu’s Charles Odeke in the round of 64.

The Caterpillars have gone on to tame Busia (3-0), Soana (1-0) and a magnanimously thumping Entebbe Fc 5-0 in the two legged semifinals.

We don’t fear Vipers.

“They (vipers) are a better team interms of wealth and experience, we respect them a lot but we dont fear them!” Onduparaka coach Allan Kabonge told ChimpSport.

“It’s a normal fixture for my boys ,we have nothing to lose in this game. All eyes are on vipers not us. We have come to showcase our talent against one of the best teams in Uganda. I will celebrate my players skills more than goals.”

Apart from gold medals and the seven million shillings price, winners get the chance to represent the country in next years Caf Confederations cup.

Kenya Premier League sugar miller, Chemilil FC has cracked the whip on four players who failed to perform during the first round.

Three Ugandan compatriots Suudir Kayemba, Ben Ociti and Alex Haris Kajjubi failed to impress the technical bench according to our sources and thus chopped.

The trio joined Chemelil in the January transfer window but have struggled to stamp authority or command a place in the team hence the decision.

“The players have not performed to the club’s expectations and we deemed it better to release them for their own development as well as the club’s,” one of the officials told Chimp Sport on phone.

“We are eyeing on several replacements including an option for a Ugandan but that remains on our chest until we finalize.”

Kajjubi joined the team from Uganda premier league side Sadolin Paints FC while Ociiti crossed over from Police.

Chemilil finished the first round of the league on a dismal 12th position with 17 points, twelve behind league leaders Tusker FC.

Kamuli Park FC and Kataka FC are through to the finals of the 2016 Eastern regional playoffs finals following an identical 1-0 wins in their respective semifinal games played at the Mbale Municipal stadium on a chilly Monday afternoon.

Kamuli Park 1-0 Busia United FC

The first game of the day kicked off at 2PM featuring an experienced Kamuli side against the ‘shy’ side.

Abdul Shampul utilized one of the many wasted chances early in the 35th minute connecting in from Samuel Ssemugugu’s low cross from the right flank.

Abel Keya had miscalculated a long ball directed to the Busia box skewing to the right where Semugugu calmly received and raced behind the defense that lapsed to recover before sending in a low shot to the scorer.

Kamuli kept their cool and used experience to frustrate their prey with tactics from Sadolin coach Musafiri Swamadu who acted as an advisor to the technical bench.

In the second match, Aziz Nambobi needed miracles of lady luck to convert a second half penalty past Paul Mwaumbali to salvage the home fans hopes of promotion.

Kataka’s topscorer Nassur Nandala had been brought down in the box by Paul who earlier on failed to hold on Lusimbula’s tricky left foot cross.

Aziz stepped up and shot at the right post but was lucky when ball rebounded on the keeper’s back and crossed the line.

The finals will be staged on Thursday with only one spot available for promotion to the big league.
