Vipers put up a stunning comeback from a goal behind to defeat KCCA FC 2-1 in the game played on Tuesday at Phillip Omondi stadium.

Mutebi slammed his players especially defenders Timothy Awany and skipper Dennis Okot for clumsy defending that he thinks cost the team.

“I have to put it straight. That was school boy defending, silly mistakes that cannot be tolerated at such a stage,” said the furious manager in a post-match press briefing.

“It was just a case of being reckless and loss of concentration and in the end it cost us all three points,” Mutebi added.

Mutebi went ahead to concede, Vipers were the better side on the day but believes they will bounce back to keep their title hopes alive.

“They (Vipers) were the better side and deserved to win but this doesn’t mean we are out of the title race. We still believe we can bounce back soon,” he noted.

University Football League
KU 0-1 YMCA

Newcomers Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) Comprehensive Institute caused the biggest shock of this season as they defeated defending champions Kampala University in the University Football League.

Playing in their maiden season, YMCA did not grow feet of clay against two time UFL winners, Kampala University defeating them 1-0 in their own backyard.

Ochom Arafat scored the lone goal of the game played on Wednesday at Villa park, Nsambya to condemn KU to their first loss this season.

A defence mix up in the Kampala University defence saw goalkeeper Charles Opoka fail to clear the ball out of danger and Ochom used the lapse to tap home.

Despite several attempts to at least salvage a point by KU, the visitors remained resilient to record their first win in the league.

The result means Kampala University end the first round on 6 points from three games in group C,while YMCA move to second on 5 points above Bugema University and Gulu University.

Action continues in group C on Saturday with Kumi University hosting last year’s finalists Nkumba University

FUFA Polls: Northern Region Cite Loopholes in the Electoral Process

The process to attain power in the ongoing Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) elections is getting tougher every other day.

With the process already underway at the grassroot level (districts), there has been a lot of dissatisfaction from various participants, the recent one being the Northern Region.

Delegates from the region have expressed their discontent in the electoral process indicating it is sham and marred with several irregularities.

An April 27th letter which ChimpReports has seen, points several issues that the delegates believe have not been settled and are aimed at manipulating the process to favour some people.

“As FUFA delegates and football administrators from Northern region of Uganda, we hereby wish to express our dissatisfaction towards the ongoing Fufa electoral process ahead of the grass root polls set for Saturday April 29th 2017.There are signs that the while process is fraudulently organized,” reads the statement.

The delegates that showed their discontent in the letter include Otim Geoffrey (Gulu),Ogwal Anxiel Engodo(Lira),Musa Odongo(Lira) and Dan Obote(Lira).

Amobg the loopholes noted, the delegates accuse Fufa Electoral Committee to eliminate some districts they believe do not support incumbent President, Engineer Moses Magogo.

“There was a deliberate move to eliminate some of the districts by failing to avail the nomination forms on time hence leaving out districts like Amuru, Alebtong and Agago among others.” The statement reads.

They also go ahead to accuse the committee of selectively issuing out certificates of candidature which is a requirement for voting on Saturday.

“Fufa had earlier fixed Wednesday 26th April 2017 as the declaration date of legible candidates to contest in the Saturday elections but the certificates of candidature for the respective successful candidates from District Football Associations which is a requirement on the voting day were issued out selectively to only those they believe to be supporters of the incumbent President,”

The others irregularities cited include appointment of biased returning officers, removing of legible voters from registers and bribing voters among others.

Efforts to get comment from the FUFA electoral committee spokesperson, Yusuf Awuye were futile declining to comment on the mentioned issues.

The electoral process will stretch up to 5th August 2017 when a new FUFA President will be voted.

Mutebi Optimistic KCCA FC Can Advance from Tough Group

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) head coach Mike Mutebi has the belief that his will be able to advance out of the group in the CAF Confederation Cup.

KCCA FC were pitted in group A of the 2017 Total CAF Confederation Cup along FUS Rabat (Morocco), Club Africain (Tunisia) and Rivers United in the group stage draws that were held in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday and Mutebi is confident he has enough firepower in the armory to put up a fight.

“We shall compete and I believe we are capable of progressing to the next level because we have a good and talented squad that has the ability to take on any team,” he told the club website.

Mutebi belives the games KCCA FC has played enroute to the group stage has helped the team get experience on the continent.

“We have played against champions of Africa, Al Masry from the Maghreb and a team from Angola that has a Brazilian culture, so the games have helped to shape our players for challenges and I think that will help us ahead of the upcoming fixtures,” noted the manager.

In the quest to build KCCA FC into a strong team that will regularly compete on the continent, manager Mutebi indicates this is a good chance to gauge against the very best.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for our players to play against such traditional and powerful clubs on the continent because we test ourselves against the biggest teams on the Continent,”

“It helps us to continue growing into a team that we want KCCA FC to be that can appear and compete on the continent regularly,” he added.

KCCA FC became the first Ugandan team to reach the group stages of any continental tournament since change in format after eliminating Al Masry 4-3 on penalties at the playoff phase after a 1-1 aggregate score over the two legs.

Court Dismisses Walusimbi’s Case Against FUFA

$

The high Court in Kampala on Thursday  dismissed the case filed by football worrying faction led by Dan Walusimbi against the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) led by Engineer, Moses Magogo.

Her Lordship Basaza Wasswa in the Civil division at Twed Towers ruled that Walusimbi and company had no justifiable reasons against Fufa and thus were only trying to sabotage.

According to the judge, the certificate of incorporation that had been issued to Walusimbi’s faction by Ministry of Lands was later cancelled and thus, they had no ground to challenge the credibility and legality of FUFA under Moses Magogo.

Walusimbi has over the years challenged the legality of FUFA indicating the football governing body should not be run as a limited Company but rather a company under trust.

Fufa on the other hand deny the allegations indicating the limited company (scoreline) within Fufa is just a business arm of the Federation.

Fufa legal lead counsel Ambrose Tebyasa noted after the court ruling that after cancellation of the certificate of incorporation, Walusimbi had no grounds to challenge FUFA.

“At first, Justice Steven Musota upheld the certificate but after revision from the Ministry of Lands, their certificate was cancelled because they were not the right people to govern football in Uganda,” he said.

“They lodged cases against Lawrence Mulindwa, Moses Magogo, Edgar Watson and others but court today has made the ruling which dismisses all their allegations,” Tebyasa added.

Synopsis of the Saga

The 2014 Sports Act that was meant to shape the sports sector called for the re- registration of all Federations and Associations through the National Council of Sports.

One of the key requirements for registration was a certificate of incorporation from Ministry of Lands. But because FUFA under Magogo hesitated the move at first, Walusimbi was witty enough to get the certificate from Ministry of Lands.

NCS now was faced with the challenge of which group to award the certificate of registration because Fufa led by Magogo had all the other requirements but the certificate of incorporation while on the other hand, Walusimbi only had the certificate.

The two sides sought for justice in courts of law until Thursday when a ruling was made in FUFA’s favour.

In the past six months, Walusimbi and group have attacked the Federation headquarters in Mengo indicating the people at the helm are occupying it illegally and need to be banished a thing that has led to arrest of several people including ex internationals like George Ssemwogerere.

“It will not be an easy game, but I think we have the ability to go there and get a result that we need. KCCA FC have the chance to stretch the gap at the top of the table up to five points, should they earn maximum points against JMC Hippos.

The league leaders make the trip to Jinja on Tuesday in high spirits on the back of two positive results that have boosted the team’s confidence.

A 1-0 win against Express in the league was followed by another victory with the same score in the Uganda Cup against Police to march to the semifinals.

They take on JMC Hippos that have already suffered the drop. However, KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi is cautious about that and indicates they will not take the game lightly.

“It is an important game for us and therefore we are not undermining our opponents despite the fact that they are already relegated. We play with them in the same league and they would want to end the season on a good note,” he told the club website and indicated that the next games will be used as preparation for the Total CAF Confederation Cup group games.

Lweza got a huge boost in their bid to fend off relegation after putting up a masterpiece display to defeat rivals Express FC.

The Wankulukuku derby lived up to the billing with Lweza coming from a goal down to defeat Express 4-2 in a mouthwatering clash.

However, the Orange brigade put up a fight to crawl back, first through Owen Kasule who leveled matters.

A few minutes to the break, the former KCCA FC, URA FC and Vipers midfielder gave Lweza the lead with a fantastic finish and arguably a contender for goal of the season.

Lweza returned recharged even after recess and this time round it was midfielder Juma Balinya who took matters into his own hand scoring a second half brace to stum his former club.

Saddam Juma scored another goal from the spot kick but only settled for a consolation as Lweza held on to win 4-2.

The result means Lweza boost their chances of surviving relegation moving to 13th position on 28 points while Express remain 5th on 40 points.
