Zambian national team captain is abreast of the threat posed by Cameroon ahead of their match day two world cup qualifier in Limbe but warns that the Chipolopolo shouldn’t be underrated at any costs.
The Chipolopolo have been struggling in form a series that has seen them lose three of their last four games with one draw before a ‘not-convincing’ 1-0 win at Namboole on Tuesday in a build up.
“We have been struggling a bit but that will be rectified before Saturday in Limbs,” Kalaba confidently said.
“Playing Cameroon is not just a normal cup of water especially when the game is away but Zambia is also a big African footballing nation and are equal to the task.”
The TP Mazembe hit man promises to transfer his continental success where he scored seven goals and won the Caf confederations cup, to country.
“Our dream is to take Zambia to the World Cup because we have been at and won the African cup of nations before. The current generation want to do something different for the country.”
Do or die
Zambia lost to Nigeria 1-0 in Ndola on match day one and face a Herculean task in a group that also has Algeria.
“The Cameroon game is a do or die for us because we gave three points at home and have to go out there and pick a win if we are to stabilize in this race.”
He added that, “Everyone has written us off because we are playing the indomitable lions but sometimes it’s good to carry that underdog tag”
