Greenlight Stadium to Host 2016/17 Uganda Cup Final

Fufa competitions committee has confirmed that the 2016/17 Uganda cup final will be hosted by the Fufa West Nile region and specifically in Arua town.

The development was confirmed by the competitions director Mr. Ali Mwebe through an official communication.

Arua hosts topflight club Onduparaka FC in the top flight at the Greenlight stadium and Big league Bright Light at the Barifa Stadium

“The 11th Fufa executive committee held on July 28 2016 approved the Fufa west Nile region as the host of the 2016/17 Uganda cup final in Arua town,” Mwebe communicated. “The final is set for the weekend of 2-4th June.”

Entry procedure
Uganda Cup is the country’s premier knockout competitions played in two levels; the regional and at national level.

Preliminary rounds have been scheduled to kick off on Saturday, December 3rd at the Regional level involving fifth, fourth division and regional league clubs.

Fifth and fourth division teams are expected to pay a hundred thousand shillings for registration before commencing the games. Only 25 teams will emerge from the regionals to make to the final round.

Kampala and Buganda regions have been allocated four qualification spots each while Eastern, North Eastern and Western have three. Only two spots are available for Kitara, West Nile and Northern region.

National level
The 25 teams from the regional levels will join the 16 topflight clubs and 25 second division teams to make the round of 64. The competition is mandatory for all the premier and big league clubs. They’re required to register with UGX 300,000 and 250,000 respectively

The draws for this round will be done on January 11 2016.

Vipers are the defending champions of the Uganda cup and therefore earn a ticket to represent the country in the 2017 Caf confederations cup.
