Four time Uganda Premier League top scorer, Robert Ssentongo could be on his way out of league defending champions KCCA FC, that is if the recent developments at the club are to be taken serious.
He was officially unveiled at Lugogo exactly 59 days ago as a free agent after URA FC dropped him at the end of the 2015-16 season despite scoring 18 goals.
The striker made his debut for KCCA FC on Saturday 25th September with a brace against BUL FC at Kakindu stadium.
Omitted!
Pictures of KCCA FC 2016-17 squad circulated on social media and also on the Uganda Premier League page but Ssentongo was suspiciously missing.
“He (Ssentongo) arrived late for the event and that’s the sole reason why he was not on the photo shoot,” KCCA FC’s Chief Executive Officer, David Tamale told ChimpSport when we sought for clarity.
The reason is however not satisfactory especially going by the recent rumours that have been making rounds among the club’s hopefuls about a row between the manager, Mike Mutebi and the player.
According to information from a reliable source, it is believed Ssentongo was seen leaving a bar drunk in the wee hours of Monday morning in Namugongo.
“Club training resumed today but he did not show up, one of our staff met him leaving a bar in the morning,” said the source who preferred anonymity.
“I wish to dismiss baseless allegations that are running on different media platform that I have been suspended by KCCA FC. This is to advise the general public and our fantastic fans to treat this information as absolute nonsense!” Ssentongo’s facebook post confirms the rumors have been circulating.
