Hima Cement Heathens vs Betway Kobs
Kyadondo rugby grounds 5:00pm
Games involving giants Hima Cement Heathens and Betway Kobs always come with a lot of expectations given the eternal rivalry between the two sides.
And it will not be any different this Friday as current league leaders Heathens welcome bitter rivals Kobs at Kyadondo rugby grounds.
For a contest that is virtually about bragging rights for either side, the game comes at a time when defending champions trail Heathens on the logo with five points separating the two sides.
Heathens lead the Rugby premiership league on 33 points while Kobs follow closely on 28 points in second position.
Kobs perhaps seem the team that will need the positive result more to close down the gap on Heathens.
Anything but victory for the defending champions could determine the championship destiny as early as the first round.
Heathens have been in sublime form since the start of the 2016/17 season winning all their opening 7 games and only failing to get the bonus point on two occasions.
Kobs on the other hand have not had a smooth run, already falling to Rhinos earlier in the season.
The mixed results led to the sacking of Italian tactician Dal Miriko.
His successor Edmund Tumusiime has had a better run since taking the reigns winning all the three games he has been in charge.
The return of players from the HSBC series spices the game further with Heathens welcoming back Phillip Wokorach, Michael Wokorach and Lawrance Ssebuliba.
Tumusiime’s charges also welcome Ramathan Govule, Al Hajji Manano and Adrian Kasato.
Action continues with four fixtures on Saturday with two games at the grave yard, Makerere, one in Gulu and the other at Legends rugby club.
