Both Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kyambogo University had themselves to blame for not winning their encounter at the Maroons Stadium in the University Football League on Wednesday afternoon.
The 2 university football league giants played to a one all draw.
The Nakawa based side which are also the defending champions took the early lead through skipper Ismail Kiwawulo’s first minute goal.
MUBS almost double the lead when they got a penalty only for Kyambogo goal keeper Joseph Etyang’s heroics to bring back life to his team.
Only five minutes to recess, Kyambogo’s Michael Walaga restored sanity when his shot ensured his team’s come back to the game.
It was such an entertaining game with both teams attacking each other and on numerous occasions putting goal keepers at work as they saved their respective sides.
Both teams also have their strikers to blame for failure to convert a number of clear cut chances they had throughout the game.
In an interview with Chimpreports, MUBS’ coach Charles Ayiekho blamed his players for playing a boasting game and failing to beat Kyambogo.
“My team is known for an all attacking game but the boys didn’t do that today. They wasted a lot of chances,” Ayiekho said blaming his experienced lead striker Shaban Omara for failure to convert chances.
He stressed that he is now faced with trying moments as he faces Gulu and Busitema universities in the league.
Kyambogo tactician Deo Sserwada also added to his MUBS counterpart blaming his strikers for letting him down.
“They were shy in front of the goal which cost us 2 points. I now have a huge task to sharpen them as we go into the last group games,” Sserwadda said.
Kyambogo now lead group B of the University Football League with 5 points whereas the defending champions MUBS are second after collecting 4 points from the 3 games so far played.
Makerere university Business school skipper Ismail Kiwawulo is leading the scorers’ chat with 4 goals in the University Football League.
