Uganda Premier League
Proline 0-1 Police

Police football club continued their perfect run in the second round of the league with yet another victory to relieve the relegation pressure.

A spirited performance from Police FC saw them defeat Proline 1-0 in the game played  at Phillip Omondi stadium on Tuesday.

Second half substitute Yassin Mugume produced the game’s deciding moment as his solitary strike was enough to earn the cops maximum points.

Abdallah Mubiru’s charges enjoyed majority of the possession in the opening 45 minutes and created more chances than the hosts Proline.

Police were awarded a penalty as early as the 10th minute when left back Simon Namwanja fouled veteran striker Hood Kaweesa inside the penalty box but the latter failed to convert shooting direct at goalkeeper Saidi Keni.

Despite coming close on several occasions, Police failed to put to use the chances created as the two teams headed for the mandatory break goalless.

Proline returned a better side after recess troubling the visitor’s defence in the opening minutes of the second half.

However, it was second half substitute Yassin Mugume who broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute.

Ben Ochen laid up Mugume with a low cross on the far end and the fast winger tapped from close range to put Police ahead.

Proline had a chance to level matters midway through the second half but forward Fahad Bayo failed to convert from the penalty as Police held off pressure to walk away with three points.

The result means Police moved from 13th to 9th on the league table with 20 points while Proline dropped one position to 10th on 19 points
