Uganda Premier League
Kirinya 1-0 Police

Bashir Mutanda’s second half penalty settled the clash between Kirinya Jinja SS and Police FC which had several stops.

Kirinya Jinja SS kept their hopes for relegation survival with a 1-0 victory over Police FC in the game played on Friday at Kakindu stadium.

However, the game was marred with several ugly scenes forcing play to stop tentatively for some time.

Robert Donney who is not new to controversy was the centre referee and sent off Police FC defender Martin Mpuuga after a foul on George Ssenkaba.

Mpuuga despite protests was ordered to walk off the pitch and Mutanda made no mistake to slot home from 12 yards.

Anthony Bongole had a goal disallowed which prompted the game to stop once again with Police players rounding up referee Donney in protest.

The result means Kirinya move out of the drop zone and now occupy 12th position on 23 points while Police drop to 11th on 25 points.

In the other relegation battle, Saints claimed a 2-1 win against 10 man JMC Hippos to also brighten their hopes of survival.

Godfrey Wakaza and Julius Malingumu scored for Saints while Gerald Kamya netted for the visitors who had captain Walter Bankene sent off.
