After exiting from Total CAF Champions League, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club still have another chance to impress on the continental stage.
A 3-2 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at the second round in the champions league meant, KCCA FC drop to Confederation Cup and the daunting task will be against Al Masry.
KCCA FC take on Egyptian outfit Al Masry this Saturday at Phillip Omondi stadium in the first leg of the playoff phase seeking to have a positive result and advantage ahead of the return leg in a week’s time.
Head coach Mike Mutebi believes if they are to stand a chance to advance, they need to make use of the first leg and earn a good result.
“We are ready, the mood in the camp is good and our target will be to take full advantage in the first leg at home,” he said.
“We need to be focused and make sure we put to use the chances that we create so that we get advantage ahead of the second round,” Mutebi.
On the other hand, Al Masry head coach Hossam Hassan put it straight that an away goal will be the prime target for his team this Saturday.
“The target for us will be to score at least a goal here in Kampala and maybe build on that back home,” said Hossam.
KCCA FC will be forced to play with a makeshift defence with Timothy Awany and Habib Kavuma ruled out.
Awany has failed to recover from the injury he sustained against Bright stars on Tuesday while Habib Kavuma is suspended for card accumulation.
Midfielders Allan Okello and Muzamir Mutyaba who missed the game against Bright stars returns and will be available for selection.
