Sadolin Paints FC’s roller coaster ride that has seen the team run seven games unbeaten came to a sudden halt on Tuesday 26th after falling 1-0 to Uganda Police at Bugembe.
Joseph Ssentume headed in the only goal of the match at the turn of the hour.
Both sides opted for cautious play from the beginning to avoid conceding early.
However, Police were the first to make a serious attempt in the 23rd minute when Richard Kimera overlapped down the right wing before sending an in swinger for Nyanzi to head past Muwanga from medium range only to be denied by the crossbar with the keeper well beaten.
Oryek and Segujja had their subsequent attacks denied by Sam Kivumbi in Simba goal.
A moment of confusion made the match commissioner to momentarily halt the match for about seven minutes to order one of the crazy home fans to drive away his sports car which he was speedily driving around the perimeter walls.
The game was then resumed on a low tempo but ended goalless at half time.
On resumption Allan Oryek and Nazil Serwadda made a good quick counter attack through the left flank before switching to Nasser Muzamir outside the box. Nasser smashed the ball but Kivumbi’s flexibility kept the ball off for a corner.
Ssemwogerere stepped up for the corner sinking it deep inside goal area where Segujja chested down for Defame to shoot but again rattled the crossbar and out.
Sentume’s chance came in the 60th minute when he met Osman Mutumba’s well curved corner and headed to the far post to break Sadolin’s over 700 minutes clean sheet run.
The goal is Sentume’s second in the league this season after striking the first against Simba in the first round.
Police jump to fifth with 41 points with only three games remaining while the painters remain stuck on eighth.
