KCCA FC vs SC Vipers
Phillip Omondi stadium
Tuesday 25th April 2017
With the title out of sights for Vipers, the only realistic target must be finishing as far as they can end this season in the five games left.
Ahead of the encounter against table leaders and defending champions, KCCA FC, Vipers will be out to sabotage the Lugogo based side’s hopes of retaining the league.
The two sides clash this Tuesday at Phillip Omondi stadium almost on a similar footing. Despite advancing in the Total CAF Confederation Cup, KCCA FC run in the league has been a disappointing one, winning one of their last five outings.
The win came against relegation threatened Bright stars, but have gone to draw against Soana, Police FC, URA FC and SC Villa.
Similarly, Vipers have had a bad spell in the last three weeks until last Friday when they got a resuscitated 2-0 victory against Soana.
KCCA FC have had a congested fixture in last two weeks and the slump in form could be down to fatigue but they still have the advantage of having three games in hand.
After earning a vital point off SC Villa over the weekend the target will be at getting another positive result.
KCCA FC skipper Denis Okot who missed the game against Villa due to a head injury has recovered in time and will be available for selection.
Vipers coach Miguel Da Costa has called on his troops to put up a fantastic display and be the first side to win at Phillip Omondi stadium this season.
“We are good to go, the squad is competitive and in good shape. All players are fine and ready to give their all,” Da Costa revealed.
“We are not going to Philip Omondi to defend, we want to be the first side this season to inflict a home defeat on KCCA FC in the league,” the Vipers tactician told the club website.
Vipers won the first leg meeting 2-1 at Nakivubo stadium last year
