Ugandan professional boxer David Basajja Mivule is talking tough ahead of the highly ranked mouthwatering clash against Tanzania’s Kheri Mbaruku in a light heavy weight world boxing title fight sanctioned to take place on Saturday 30th April at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.
“I am 100% ready for the big showdown on Saturday and I trust my strength I will knock the Tanzanian down,” Mivule said and when asked about his opponent he added that,” It’s my culture and norm to do my training and mind my business. I don’t talk about my opponents, I only train to beat them.”
Basajja-Mivule enters into the intercontinental fight boasting of a fine record where he has won 16 games, drawn one and only three losses registered under his belt.
“I have never been knocked down, that’s a record I will want to maintain,” he posed. “I have trained well to last all the twelve rounds.”
The Tanzanian has played 18 career fights where he has won twelve and drawn four an experience that Mivule’s trainer Pascal Bogaerd is not taking any chances with.
“A fight of this magnitude has no favorites especially when the two haven’t met earlier. We respect the opponent and are aware of the vast experience he poses but we are ready for the show,” Pascal cautiously noted.
Saturday’s fight will be one of a kind to the country; one, being the first of its magnitude to take place in Uganda and also the presence of the vice President of the World boxing federation (WBF), Mr. Howard Goddberg.
Before the main fight, several under-cuts are expected to take place where Dragon Kidega will take on Robert Mugalula in a welterweight fight.
Meddie Sebyala will nudge shoulders with Shaaban Keinoke from Tanzania as Ali Kasango and Robert Semboozi contain each other in the other fight. The two are bantum weight fights.
Students from Basajja-Mivule boxing club are expected to take to the ring for two round fights.
