The race for the local league crown has been thrown further into uncertainty after table leaders KCCA FC and defending champions Vipers SC played to a highly entertaining but barren draw on Friday afternoon at the Nakivubo stadium.
Both sides will have their strikers to pin for the score line for missing out glorious open chances later in the second half.
Former KCCA FC attacker William Wadri could have buried the game at the end when he dummied past the KCCA FC defense leaving him with only the keeper to beat but was unfortunate.
First half.
The visitors showed no respect to the city lads attacking with the blow of the whistle but Sekisambu’s attempts to get inside the box were denied by a clinical Sakka Mpiima who started in the centre back.
Mutyaba blew away the ensuing freekick. Saddam Juma got at the end of another immediate attack but his goal bound strike was short of power.
KCCA FC missed the first close chance in the 12th, Ochaya dinking in a cross aiming at Nsibambi but was unfortunately heads of for the first corner. Earlier on Sekisambu’s trick to beat an offside trap botched culminating to the attack.
Both sides maintained energy in their attack but were fruitless to the break.
The City Lads will miss their influential leftback-cum-winger Joseph Ochaya in the Tuesday game against SC Villa for accumulated bookings.
The draw blows the race wide open with KCCA FC leading the pack with 52 points with three games to go, Vipers coming second with 46 but have two at hand while Express track the duo on third with 45 points.
