Touted to be one of the most gifted midfielders back in the day, Gift Ali popularly known as “Gigi” did not leave up to the expectations.

His progress was mainly hindered because of recurring injuries that saw him miss out of several opportunities including playing abroad.

There is no doubt that Gift Ali is a talented player and one of the most creative midfielders in the country at the moment.

A product of the Kampala Kids League (KKL), Gift Ali promised a lot at a tender age.

On Monday, the crafty player switched allegiance moving from Proline FC to Police FC on a two year deal.

His representative/agent Peter Tabu confirmed to ChimpReports that the two parties have agreed a deal and Ali will now feature for Police FC come next season.

“We have reached an agreement and Gift Ali joins Police FC on a two year contract,” Tabu confirmed.

Born on 13th May 1993, Gift Ali still holds the record for the youngest player to captain a top tier club in Uganda.

He achieved the fete while playing for Arua Central FC in 2009 at the age of 16. At the time, he was also a student at Old Kampala SS.

Gift went on to also captain the U20 team in 2012. He joined Proline in 2010 and has gone on to feature for the club since then.

The midfielder joins the list of players that the 2005 league winners have signed ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The cops languished in the drop zone for the better part of last season and have made several signings to avoid the predicament this season.

At Police FC, Gift Ali re-unites with his former coach at Proline FC, Abdallah Mubiru.
