Uganda Cranes Interim Coach Moses Basena officially started his national duties as a full Cranes coach when he conducted his first training at Mandela National stadium, Namboole on Wednesday evening.
The training session, which was poorly attended after the absence of some players especially a contingent that travelled with Vipers SC, will run up to August 5 before they move to St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Speaking after the team’s training session; Basena told the media that there has to be some respect that should be given to the Amavubi Stars: “Rwanda is one of the teams that always put up a proper fight every time they face us, and we must respect them.”
“Many Rwandans are here, they are our brothers, wives, daughters etc and it’s that closeness we share with them that always spices up this derby,” he added.
Talking about the country’s expectations, Basena said: “We know they have strong government support, they are offered loads of bonuses, but we too know where we are going, and we also know what we want.”
