JKL Dolphins 55-59 Ndejje University Angels

Boniface Okello’s Dolphins threw away a 4 point lead in the first quarter to suffer a 55-59 defeat against Walker Obedi’s Ndejje University Angels in the National Basketball league game played at the Lugogo court.

Since their back to back victories against Sharing Youth and Nkumba Marines in June, the Dolphins have now suffered 6 consecutive defeats.

Ndejje’s Michael Otieno was the starman on the day as he scored 20 points, picked 3 rebounds and managed to make 5 assists.

JKL dolphins’ Ferdinand Odama and Dan Orenga made 16 and 14 points respectively but their efforts did not yield maximum points.

How the Dolphins lost it

The opening first quarter saw both teams score a combined low 14 points: with Dolphins taking a 9-5 lead after the first ten minutes.

In the second quarter, Walker Obedi’s side came back in a stronger mood as they all went out and scored 25 more points to overturn the score, 25-30 in favour of the University Angels at the break.

After the long break, Deng Maker scored 4 out of the 8 points Ndejje collected in the 3rd quarter, Derrick Katumba and Otienno Michael converted 2 points apiece.

In the 4th quarter, JKL levelled matters at one stage when Odama Ferdinand paved his way through for a 2 point jump shot to make the game even with 6 minutes left to play.

The University Angels pegged them back to open up a 4 point advantage to seal a 55-59 hard fought victory.
