Home side Express FC will have themselves to blame for failure to bag all the 3 points during their Azam Premier League encounter with record champions SC Villa on Tuesday afternoon.

Following a fair first half in which both sides had an equal share in the game, the second half of the game saw a rejuvenated Express FC with a series of attacks towards the visitors’ goal.

Lead striker Tonny Odur, Simon Sserunkuuma, Ibrahim Kayiwa  and team captain Vincent Kayizzi had a number of  chances only to miss whereas SC Villa goal keeper  Nicholas Ssebwato  was also influential in stopping  the Red Eagles who were raring to go.

The SC Villa defence got a hard time especially during the last minutes of the game which were mostly dorminated by Express who mounted pressure on Ssebwato.

The visitors also tried to pay their hosts in the same currency with Mike Ndera, Mike Sserumaga but these were not effective as the team lacked the services of lead striker Umar Kasumba.

In an interview with ChimpReports, Odur said that the soggy Wankulukuku pitch was partly to blame for their failure to bag all the 3 points  but said his team played better than the visitors.

However, SC Villa Captain Henry Katongole was full of praises to his team that he said was able to contain the hosts and went home with a point.

“We put a lot of pressure on them as we looked to atleast get a point from them at their own ground. We are happy this paid off,” skipper Katongole said.

The draw  further cemented and brightened  Lugogo side KCCA FC’s chances of winning the league  with a few games to play.

KCCA lead the table with 55 points bagged from 28 games whereas  Buikwe based side Vipers FC are second on 50 points but with a game in hand.
