Fourteen time Belgian champions Standard Liege have officially confirmed signing Uganda Cranes midfielder Farouk Miya on a three year deal up to June 2019.

Miya joined Liege in February this year on a four-month loan move from Ugandan champions Vipers SC with an option of a longer deal in case he impressed the technical bench.

On Tuesday, Standard Liege sports Director Olivier Renard revealed that the club especially the technical bench were satisfied by Miya’s performance.

“Since Farouk MIYA arrived in Liège he showed some nice things on training and during the games he played. He started three times in play-off 2 and scored his first goal for the “Rouches” against Mouscron,” Renard said adding that, “(Miya) has convinced us of his qualities and his potential.”

The director also said that the dazzling Cranes midfielder was contented by the club’s project and believes the Belgian move was the right step for him to make progress.

“He will help our club to reach his objectives and is looking forward to the beginning of the preparation for next season.” An optimistic Renard summed up.
