Boxing: National Team Flagged off to Germany

The National Boxing Team ‘The Bombers’ that will represent Uganda in the upcoming World Boxing  Championships has been flagged off today by the National Council of Sports in Lugogo.

The Contingent is set to depart on Monday, August 21st from Entebbe following intensive 5 week training in camp, weigh in on August 23rdand the Tournament commences on August 25th and end on 4th September.

“We are sending a team of young but strong boys and I am expecting that they are going to bring in some good results,” said NCS General Secretary Al Haji Galiwango during the flag off.

He went further to encourage the boxers to do their best and remain focussed in order to achieve.

National Team coach, Patrick Lihanda said: “My boys are in good shape and we are ready to make wonders in Germany.”

The city of Hamburg, Germany, will host the 2017 edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships starting on August 25th, where the best 280 boxers in World will compete.

The Travelling contingent consists of 6 people that include 3 players, one manager, Cutman and the Coach.

National Council of Sports provided 4 travelling tickets, 3 to players and the team Coach. Buchanana of Kagera Mining Company provided an air ticket to Fred Kavuma (Team Manager).

Betway online betting company is transporting Tony Ssekabira and they further gave 100 dollars each to the 3 players.
