As one of the top medal-winning federations in Uganda, the Uganda Boxing federation is organizing Cadet National Championships in Kampala.
The tournament which features the best local boxing talents is set to take place from 19th to 27th August at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
All participating clubs will endorse one boxer in each weight category and 35 to 40 clubs will participate with a record of around 270 male and female boxers from different parts of Uganda expected to take part.
Simon Barigo, Chairman Boxing committee of CADET Championship, stated: “Boxing is one of our biggest and medal-winning sports, and the focus has been to promote young boxers at the local level and provide them with the much needed exposure through such events. “
We are coming at you live and ready to showcase Uganda’s raw talent with most authentic display of boxing skills.
Fred Kavuma, the PRO for the Boxing Federation, said: “We had a lot to handle that included AIBA and the National Team, but I am happy that this is also going to be a success. This Tournament is going to run for only one week and it is our 4th edition our regime.”
The Championships includes 3 categories: Junior (15-16 years), Youth (17-18 years) and Elite set (19-40 years).
Sparks club from Kitintale and Lukanga Boxing Club are the previous winners of Junior and Elite categories.
This year’s Championship has been spearheaded by Hima Cement and they will take the tournament’s brand name, Sun Cosmetics who will reward the winners with respective products and Moses Muhangi who provided the tournament with medals.
