The Egyptian national football team has arrived in Uganda ahead of a crucial encounter against the Uganda Cranes.
The two teams will lock horns on Thursday at Mandela national stadium in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
The pharaohs touched base at Entebbe International airport on Tuesday evening with a big contingent comprising of 25 players.
Egypt manager Hector Cuper excluded four players from the squad including Al-Taawoun’s Mostafa Fathi due to injury.
He announced on Tuesday trimming down the squad to 25 players after excluding four other players.
Cuper ruled out Al Ahly duo Ahmed El-Sheikh and Ayman Ashraf, as well as Ismaily goalkeeper Mohamed Awad and Smouha defender Mahmoud Ezzat.
The Argentine coach will however b without defender Ali Gabr who sustained an injury.
The team will reside at Kampala Serena Hotel and will have a training session at Namboole on Wednesday at 4pm.
The two teams will face off twice in a space of a week with Uganda hosting the first leg at Mandela national stadium on 31st August before a return leg in Alexandria on September 5.
Egypt currently top Group E in the African qualifiers with six points, two points above second-placed Uganda, while Ghana sit third with only one point and Congo Brazzaville languish at the bottom of the group with 0 points.
