Mbarara City vs Express FC, 4:30 pm

Following their promotion in the Azam Uganda Premier league that saw them defeat fellow big league side Synergy fc to achieve the fate.

The Ankole lions drew goalless in their first top flight game against BUL FC in Kakindu on Tuesday to earn a point.

On Saturday September 16, Mbarara City FC will play their first ever home game when they play host to the visiting ‘Mukwano gwa bangi’ Express FC.

Moods in the Express FC camp may not be high as the Red Eagles lack confidence going into this trip.

Express lost 1-0 in Kakyeka in a preseason game and fired blanks against Kirinya Jinja at Wankulukuku.

The hosts come into this brawl with uncertainty about their coach following Richard Makumbi’s departure.

Makumbi went missing before the team played BUL FC and the team is now under assistant coach Viali Bainomugisha.

Close sources have it that Method Bassey and Asuman Buyinza are still nursing knee and ankle injuries, the duo are set to miss this tie.

Fred Kalanzi is on leave after losing his Mother recently, Amani Boniface will replace him.

Douglas Bamweyana has been appointed as the new Express FC coach and he travelled with the team but care taker coaches Sam Kawalya, Hassan Mubiru and Edward Kalungi will still be vital for the boys in this game.

With no new fresh injuries registered since the Kirinya Jinja draw, Sam Kawalya said that it’s a win that the team needs most.

“We need points as it stands, but our fans should be aware that this is like a new team so the players must be given enough time to fit well into the squad.”
