Ugandan Cranes crafty winger William Kizito Luwagga scored yet again for his new club CSM Politehnica Lasi in the Romania top division over the weekend.
However, Luwagga’s strike was not enough to earn his team maximum points as their opponents ACS Poli Timisoara rallied back in stoppage time to salvage a point.
In the game played on Sunday at the stadiunal Emil Alexadrescu, the two teams settled for a one all draw.
Luwagga gave the home side the lead at the stroke of half time slotting home off Pedro Mendez assist.
Despite having six shots on target, two better than their opponents, Poli Lasi failed to double the lead.
With the visitors mounting pressure in the closing stages of the game, their efforts finally paid off dividends with defender Alin Seroni levelling matters.
Seroni’s goal came five minutes after normal time to cancel out Luwagga’s earlier strike for Poli Lasi.
That was Luwagga’s second goal at the club since joining them at the start of the season. His first goal came against Dinamo Bucharest a month ago.
The result means CSM Politehnica Lasi are 9th on the table with 15 points in twelve games.
Luwagga is one of the players that Cranes interim head coach Moses Basena summoned ahead of the crucial encounter against Ghana on 7th October.
