Ladies Finals
Maryhill 20-14 Gayaza
Maryhill High School, Mbarara emerged victorious of the Sky Project Mini basketball tournament that was hosted at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo on Saturday.
Maryhill defeated Gayaza 20-14 in the highly contested ladies final under a cheerful atmosphere in a one day tournament before receiving the trophy from their team manager Carol Kisakye.
Cynthia Ainemigisha led the way with 7 points in the finals to clinch the MVP accolade.
Maryhill had defeated Nyakasura with an unanswered 24 points in the semis.
The basketball tournament was run by Uganda’s ladies Basketball club A1 Challenge, which uses the sport to communicate to the Youth about Agriculture.
Iganga Girls won the Agriculture contest for best innovator.
Boys’ Category
In the boys’ category, only two teams participated that is Nyakasura and Luigi.
In a best of three series, Nyakasura did it in a better fashion – recording the first two victories (28-12) and (16-02) to clinch the title.
Nyakasura received their prestigious title from National Basketball team (Silverbacks) Captain Stephen Omony.
