It is always strange in the National Basketball League to have Monday games, but because of the unavailability of enough basketball courts (facilities), the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association is working against time to eradicate the congestion of the fixtures.
Defending league Champions in the Men’s category – City Oilers will be the most affected side. Mandy Juruni’s charges are to play 6 games in the space of 7 days this week.
Oilers schedule has KIU Titans (Monday), Warriors (Tuesday), UPDF (Wednesday), JKL Dolphins (Thursday), Sharing Youth (Saturday) and UCU Canons (Sunday).
How Oilers will cop up with this busy schedule (fatigue) is still a question yet to be answered.
Oilers’ season has seen ups and lows, losing 4 of their games, with two of those coming against five times Champions Betway Power.
Today, City Oilers will take on Hamza Nyambogo’s Kampala International University (KIU) Titans, a side they won 73-64 in June during the first round of this season.
With a powerful roster led by Team Captain Jimmy Enabu accompanied with stars performers like Stephen Omony, Ben Komakech, Landry Ndikumana, Otim Jonah, Tony Drilleba and others, Coach Mandy Juruni will hope for the best ahead of this long week.
An action packed Sunday:
UCU Lady Canons started the Sunday menu with a hard fought 69-67 victory past Magic Stormers before KCCA Leopards eased past the Lady Mariners.
In the men’s category, Henry Okoth registered 19 points for the Tomahawks as the Army side won 72-64 against Our Saviour.
Falcons relegation woes continued when they lost 103-67 past JKL Dolphins before Ronnie Mutebi’s Warriors sealed an action packed Sunday with a 59-62 victory over Mukono-based Canons.
